Private by design · Inputs and downloads stay in your browser
This calculator supports FY 2025–26 / AY 2026–27 only. FY / tax year 2026–27 requires verification and is unavailable. Standard deduction is applied automatically: up to ₹50,000 old regime / ₹75,000 new regime. Do not include it again. Enter only verified eligible deductions; exclude capital gains, dividends, crypto, agricultural, business and non-resident income.
Supported year and scope
The calculator currently supports FY 2025–26 / AY 2026–27 for resident individuals with ordinary slab-rate income. FY / tax year 2026–27 is shown as unavailable pending verification of enacted rules. Do not use the previous year as a substitute for a current-year calculation. The available year and source review date are displayed with results.
How to use it
Enter gross salary or ordinary pension, other ordinary income, and your age category for the chosen year. Enter an already-verified HRA exemption and eligible 80C total for the old regime. Other deduction fields must contain only permitted amounts for the respective regime, without double-counting. Confirm the supported income scope before calculating.
Methodology
For each regime, the engine subtracts eligible exemptions and deductions, rounds taxable income to the nearest ₹10, applies that year’s progressive slabs, rebate and applicable marginal relief, then surcharge with marginal relief and 4% cess. Final estimated tax is rounded to the nearest ₹10. Standard deduction is applied automatically, limited to available salary: up to ₹50,000 old regime and ₹75,000 new regime. Comparison shows every step, effective tax rate and annual tax divided by 12.
Example
For FY 2025–26, a resident individual with ₹12,75,000 salary, no other income and no extra deductions has ₹12,00,000 taxable income after the ₹75,000 new-regime standard deduction. The applicable rebate reduces ordinary-income tax to zero. This example does not apply to special-rate income.
What is excluded
Capital gains, dividends, lottery and crypto income, agricultural-income integration, business income, non-resident treatment, losses, reliefs beyond those stated, tax credits, penalties and interest are not modeled. The comparison estimates liability before prepaid taxes; it is not a tax return or TDS instruction. Deduction eligibility is not independently determined.
