How to compress a PDF

Select your PDF file and choose a compression level (Light, Balanced, or Maximum). Click Compress PDF. The tool reads your document, optimizes internal object streams, strips redundant descriptors, and provides your compressed file with a before-and-after size comparison.

How client-side PDF compression works

Many PDFs contain uncompressed object streams, unreferenced structural overhead, or unoptimized cross-reference tables. This tool restructures the PDF using PDF 1.5 object compression algorithms without transmitting your file across the internet.

Privacy and safety

Because processing is 100% client-side, sensitive financial statements, legal contracts, and personal records never touch an external server.

Frequently asked questions

What if my PDF doesn’t decrease in size?

If a PDF is already stream-deflated and contains pre-compressed JPEG images, structural compression may achieve only slight reductions. The tool alerts you if the document is already optimal.

Does compression damage text or vector graphics?

No. Structural object stream compression preserves vector crispness, fonts, and text fidelity.
