How to use this template
Switch to the ‘Annual P&L Statement’ tab. Enter your gross sales and service revenues in Rows 10–12. Fill in your direct Cost of Goods Sold in Rows 15–18. Gross Profit and Gross Margin will calculate automatically. In Rows 23–31, list your operating overhead expenses (rent, salaries, marketing, software). Enter non-operating interest and tax expenses in Rows 36–40. Review the top dashboard for an executive summary of your business profitability.
Formulas and methodology
Total Revenue = SUM(Revenue rows). Total COGS = SUM(COGS rows). Gross Profit = Total Revenue − Total COGS. Gross Margin (%) = IF(Total Revenue = 0, 0, Gross Profit / Total Revenue). Total Operating Expenses = SUM(OPEX rows). Operating Profit (EBIT) = Gross Profit − Total Operating Expenses. Net Profit = Operating Profit − Interest − Depreciation − Taxes.

Frequently asked questions
Is this template suitable for formal tax filings?
No. This template is designed for operational business planning and internal performance reviews. It does not replace statutory audited financial statements prepared under Indian GAAP or Ind AS.
Can I adapt this for a service-only business?
Yes. If your business has no physical inventory, simply leave the Cost of Goods Sold section at 0; your Gross Profit will equal Total Revenue.
Can I use this in Google Sheets?
Yes. All formulas use universal mathematical functions fully supported by Google Sheets and LibreOffice Calc.
