How to use this template
Open the workbook and switch to the ‘Expense Log’ worksheet. Enter your daily transactions with the date, spending category, brief description, payment method used, and amount paid. Switch to the ‘Summary & Analysis’ worksheet at any time to review your category distribution and payment method analysis updated in real time via SUMIFS formulas.
Formulas and methodology
Total Expenses = SUM(‘Expense Log’!Amount). Category Spend = SUMIFS(‘Expense Log’!Amount, ‘Expense Log’!Category, CategoryName). Category Share (%) = IF(Total Spend = 0, 0, Category Spend / Total Spend). Average Spend = AVERAGE(‘Expense Log’!Amount). Transaction Count = COUNTA(‘Expense Log’!Date).
