ROAS Calculator
Calculate return on ad spend (ROAS) from the revenue attributed to your ads and how much you spent generating it.
Private by design · Entries and logos stay in this browser. Nothing is saved automatically.
Changes the currency symbol and number format only. Amounts are not converted.
How to use the ROAS Calculator
- Enter the revenue attributed to your ads for the period.
- Enter the ad spend for that same period.
- Select Calculate to see the ROAS ratio and the ROI percentage.
Use the currency selector above the inputs to change the symbol. It changes the display only and does not convert amounts.
What is ROAS?
Return on ad spend (ROAS) compares revenue generated by advertising against how much was spent on it, expressed as a ratio (for example, 4.5:1, meaning 4.5 in revenue for every 1 spent).
This calculator also shows ROI, the same comparison expressed as a percentage return, which some businesses find more intuitive to compare against non-advertising investments.
How the calculation works
ROAS formula
ROAS = Revenue ÷ Ad spend
ROI (%) = (Revenue − Ad spend) ÷ Ad spend × 100
- Revenue is the revenue attributed to the ad spend for the period, using whatever attribution model you use.
- Ad spend is the total amount spent on those ads in that same period.
Revenue attributed to ads depends heavily on your attribution model (last-click, first-click, data-driven and so on); different models can give materially different ROAS figures for the same campaign.
ROAS calculation example
Ad spend of 10,000 generating 45,000 in attributed revenue:
| Revenue from ads | 45000 |
|---|---|
| Ad spend | 10000 |
| Revenue from ads | 45000 |
|---|---|
| Ad spend | 10000 |
| Return on ad spend (ROAS) | 4.5 |
| ROI | 350% |
A ROAS of 4.5 means 4.5 in revenue for every 1 spent; the same result shown as ROI is a 350% return. Amounts are shown without a currency symbol; the currency selector only changes the symbol and number format.
Assumptions and limitations
Assumptions
- Revenue and ad spend refer to the same period and the same campaign or ad set scope.
- Revenue is whatever figure your attribution model assigns to the ads; this calculator does not perform attribution itself.
Limitations and why results can differ
- ROAS does not account for the cost of goods sold or other margins; a high ROAS on low-margin products can still be unprofitable — see the Break-Even ROAS Calculator for a margin-aware view.
- It does not include costs outside ad spend itself, such as agency fees, creative production or platform tooling.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good ROAS?
This depends heavily on your profit margin, so no single number applies to every business. A margin-aware reference point is break-even ROAS — see the Break-Even ROAS Calculator.
What is the difference between ROAS and ROI here?
ROAS is revenue divided by spend, shown as a ratio like 4.5:1. ROI is the same comparison expressed as a percentage return: (revenue minus spend) divided by spend.
Why does ROAS depend on the attribution model?
Different attribution models (last-click, first-click, data-driven, and others) can assign different amounts of revenue to the same ad spend, which changes the ROAS figure even though nothing about the campaign itself changed.
Does a high ROAS guarantee the campaign was profitable?
No. ROAS only compares revenue to ad spend; it does not account for product costs, so a campaign can have a high ROAS and still be unprofitable if margins are thin.
Methodology
Revenue (0 to 1,000,000,000,000) and ad spend (0.01 to 1,000,000,000,000, so a division by exactly zero is rejected) are validated directly. ROAS = revenue ÷ spend; ROI = (revenue − spend) ÷ spend × 100, both computed with no intermediate rounding before display rounding.
The calculation runs in your browser and inputs are not sent to a server.
