CPC Calculator

Calculate cost per click (CPC) from your total ad spend and the number of clicks received in the same period.

Private by design · Entries and logos stay in this browser. Nothing is saved automatically.

Changes the currency symbol and number format only. Amounts are not converted.

How to use the CPC Calculator

  1. Enter total ad spend for the period.
  2. Enter the number of clicks received in that same period.
  3. Select Calculate to see the cost per click.

Use the currency selector above the inputs to change the symbol. It changes the display only and does not convert amounts.

What is CPC?

Cost per click (CPC) is the average amount paid for each click on an ad, calculated by dividing total spend by total clicks over the same period.

CPC is an average across every click in the period; it is not the same as a per-click bid, which platforms use to compete for individual ad placements.

How the calculation works

CPC formula

CPC = Ad spend ÷ Clicks

  • Ad spend is total spend for the period.
  • Clicks is the number of clicks received in that same period.

Use the same date range and campaign or ad set scope for both figures.

CPC calculation example

Ad spend of 5,000 producing 500 clicks:

Example inputs
Ad spend 5000
Clicks 500
Example results
Ad spend 5000
Clicks 500
Cost per click (CPC) 10

Amounts are shown without a currency symbol because the arithmetic is identical in any currency; the currency selector only changes the symbol and number format.

Assumptions and limitations

Assumptions

  • Ad spend and clicks refer to the same period and the same campaign or ad set scope.
  • This is an average CPC across all clicks in the period, not a bid amount or a per-keyword figure.

Limitations and why results can differ

  • A blended average CPC can hide large differences between individual ads, keywords or audiences within the same campaign.
  • It does not account for click fraud or invalid clicks, which ad platforms may or may not have already filtered from the reported click count.

Frequently asked questions

Is CPC the same as my maximum bid?

No. CPC here is the actual average cost per click realized over a period, calculated from total spend and total clicks. A maximum bid is a ceiling set before an auction, which is often higher than the actual average CPC.

How is CPC useful alongside CTR?

CTR shows how often people click; CPC shows what each of those clicks costs. Together they help judge whether ad creative and targeting are cost-efficient.

Does a lower CPC always mean a better campaign?

Not necessarily. A very low CPC with a low conversion rate can still be a poor result overall; consider CPC alongside conversion rate and ROAS.

Can I use this for different ad platforms?

Yes. The formula is the same regardless of platform — just use that platform's own total spend and click figures for the period.

Methodology

Ad spend (0 to 1,000,000,000,000) and clicks (0.01 to 1,000,000,000,000, so a division by exactly zero is rejected) are validated directly. CPC = spend ÷ clicks, computed with no intermediate rounding before display rounding.

The calculation runs in your browser and inputs are not sent to a server.
